The appearance of the violet color in the video is due to the effect of citric acid, which is naturally found in lemon. The acid releases iodine ions from the salt, and it transforms the salt into a violet color when mixed with starch, such as rice water or potatoes.

Knowing that the purpose of adding iodine to table salt is to reduce iodine deficiencies and thyroid diseases, in accordance with the requirements of the approved Saudi Technical Regulation No. SFDA.FD/GSO 1843 "Table Salt". Moreover, we recommend to decrease the consumption of all types of salt, as increasing consumption of all types of salt may lead to high blood pressure diseases.
