Almishal: Cabinet Decision “Strict Controls” To reduce the risk of "Energy Drinks"

H.E  The Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Almishal valued the Cabinet Decision regarding "Energy Drinks", and described this decision as  "Strict Control" to reduce the risks of this drink. This decision is to protect the citizens, particularly the youth, as they are the segment that will be affected by "deceptive" Energy Drinks ads. and he said that this move by the Council of Ministers, was based on the scientific studies on the components of these drinks. He re- affirmed the keenness of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz on the health of citizens. Dr. Almishal explained that the ban of advertising energy drinks in the media, and prevent to distributed free of charge for the purpose of promotion, as well as the prohibition of sale in restaurants and canteens in government facilities, education and health facilities, lounges, sports clubs and gyms "government and private" ... all that limits the spread of this drinks and thus relieves the harmful effects. Dr. Almishal appealed to the citizens, and youth in particular, to seriously consider the risks that led the Council of Ministers issue this Integrated decision. He pointed out that the Council's decision puts everyone in responsibility, especially the factory owners and importers of energy drinks by typing a text in Arabic and English, warning of consequences of energy drinks. Dr. Almishal confirmed that SFDA will continue to monitor any products in its specialization, and will observe all notes that may be detrimental to the citizens ... such as "Energy Drinks". The Chief Executive Officer of SFDA pointed out that the authority will work in collaboration with government entities to apply the decision of the Council of Ministers with precision, and to prevent marketing any product that does not abide by these controls.
