The Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) issued a warning against a makeup toy kit due to containing high level of “antimony”, which exceeded the  permissible limit as an impurity according to the safety requirements of cosmetics and personal care products regulations NO. SFDA.CO/GSO 1943, as well as the product is not notified  in the Electronic System of Cosmetic Product notification (eCosma).

SFDA stated that it had analyzed samples of cosmetic products traded in the local markets to ensure their safety, and the results of the analysis showed that the “Charming Toys Make-up set total beauty compact” product contained a high  level of antimony, and the product does not have a batch number, expiration date or manufacturer's name.

SFDA added that exposure to high antimony levels for long periods may cause health risks including irritation of the eyes, its surrounding area, and lungs.

SFDA advised consumers not to use the mentioned product and dispose any sample they may have, stressing the importance of purchasing products from reliable sources.

SFDA takes the necessary measures, in coordination with relevant parties, to follow up on the recall of the product from the market, preventing its entry, and to take legal measures against violators.
