SFDA Issues Certificates of Conformity for Beauty Sector Consignments via FASEH
2024-07-12
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has announced the ability to issue certificates of conformity for shipments from the country of origin through the "Faseh Cosmetic Products in the Electronic Clearance (FASEH) System." This initiative aims to enhance the importers' experience by automating the appointment of approved companies and enabling electronic submission of clearance requests, thus expediting the procedures for clearing cosmetic product shipments.
The importer's process involves several steps: first, registering the products and obtaining the necessary licenses through the Unified Electronic System, “GHAD” (ghad.sfda.gov.sa). Next, importers log in to the Electronic Clearance (FASEH) System, select "Faseh Cosmetic Products," and fill in the details of the products to be imported. Finally, the application is reviewed, and clearance procedures are conducted by the SFDA before the consignment arrives at the port.
The service provided by the SFDA aims to standardize procedures and facilitate the submission and tracking of clearance requests. It allows importers to access the system with multiple user accounts, connect with various conformity assessment bodies, and respond to inquiries from both the assessment bodies and Central Clearance. Additionally, this service simplifies the process of issuing certificates of conformity for consignments.
The SFDA has reported that the number of cosmetic importers in the system has exceeded 4,000, while clearance requests have surpassed 70,000. Furthermore, over 50,000 certificates of conformity for consignments have been issued to date. The SFDA encourages those wishing to obtain a clearance request to visit the Electronic Clearance (FASEH) System website for more details and to benefit from the service: [faseh.sfda.gov.sa].
