NAUSS and the SFDA are Organizing a Workshop about Counterfeit Medicines and How to Combat Them

Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS), the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and the International Technical Cooperation Department of Police are organizing a workshop about counterfeit medicines entitled: "Counterfeit Medicines: from Awareness to a Global Reaction" during the 17th to the 21st of Jumada Athani, 1429H, that equals the 21st to the 25th of June, 2008. The workshop will be held in NAUSS and the registration will be in the University headquarter, yet the program is set by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and it will dedicate six continuous hours of medical teaching for the attendants.
The invitation was sent to several relative authorities beside drug companies and specialized scientific offices.
During the workshop, several important aspects about manufacturing counterfeit medicines and how to combat them will be discussed. In addition, the Saudi experience in fighting counterfeit medicines, how to examine and recognize them will be reviewed beside discussing the most important procedures which are done for the interest of patients.
Moreover, the workshop will deal with the role of the SFDA, the World Health Organization (WHO) and related parts in combating counterfeit medicines, the strategies of fighting them, the role of international police systems in combating counterfeit in medical products in general as well as other distinctive aspects.
