The Food Sector at the SFDA is going to hold a workshop about " WTO Agreements and their effects on the Saudi Food Imports" on Tuesday 5.2.2008 (10:00 A.M – 12:00 P.M) in the SFDA auditorium. The workshop is prepared by Dr. Mohsen Al Helal, a UN expert, and is going to address the following topics:
- Overview of the WTO
- Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS).
- Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT)
- Issues of Conflict in Food Trade: How to Settle Them Down.
The workshop is expected to be attended by officials from several governmental agencies such as the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Municipality and Rural Affairs, the GCC, the Customs Agency, The Saudi Arabian Authority for Specifications and Standards, and King Saud University.
