The SFDA Held a Workshop about Food Services Offered to Pilgrims and How to Control them

The SFDA has held a workshop entitled '' Food Services Offered to Pilgrims and how to Monitor them'' in Almadinah Almunawarah during the 17th to the 19th-10-1428H, coordinating with Almadinah Almunawarah Municipality. The workshop coincided with the arrival of first pilgrims multitude and aimed to develop workers performance in field of monitoring food and spread scientific reliable awareness among workers in field of food manufacturing as well as establishments that offer food services.
The workshop was sponsored by his Excellency the Secretary of Almadinah Almunawarah Region, engineer Abdulaziz bin Abdurrahman Alhusain, who welcomed the attendants, wished them good time in Almadinah and gaining the desired benefit from the workshop. After that, his Excellency d. Muhammad bin Ahmed Alkanhal, the Acting Executive President of the SFDA addressed a welcoming word and thanked the Secretary for his initiative and trust as well as his support to the cooperation between monitoring authorities.
The activities of the workshop started after its opening by a lecture entitled '' Hazards that Threaten Food Safety'', delivered by his Excellency the Vice Executive President of Food Affair d. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize.
The workshop lasted three days and specialists from Almadinah Almunawarah Region Municipality, Municipality and Rural Affairs Ministry, Commission for the Development of Makkah, Almadinah and Holy Places, Holy Makkah Municipality, Jeddah Region Municipality, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Hajj (Pilgrimage) in Almadinah, Health Affair and Nutrition Administration in the Ministry of Health, Catering Officials in Hotels, some food plants, Catering Department in Saudi Arabia Air Lines beside some food specialists in the SFDA attended it.
During the second day, several lectures have been addressed about healthy forms of food establishments, employment and its effect on food safety, spontaneous control in food plants, regulations of food safety control in plants, examples for the effect of neglecting applying healthy forms, official and modern inspecting examples and applying monitoring plans on food plants that have different activities.
Lectures continued during the third day, starting by one about the mechanism of inspector work followed by the importance of healthy control on food services plants then one entitled '' wrong concepts about healthy control'' and control in Islam as well as contact skills.
It worth mentioning that some university professors, officials of the Ministry of Municipality and Rural Affairs, experts in field of food services and other relative areas and specialists from among the SFDA consultants participated in addressing the lectures.
The efforts of Almadinah Municipality were crowned by success which was visible through good organizing and coordination of workshop activities.
At the end of it, memorials were presented to lecturers and certificates were delivered to attendants.
The SFDA and Almadinah Municipality hope that this workshop would enhance the safety of food services offered to pilgrims, so they will be able to perform Hajj safely, in accordance with the concern of the Saudi Government- headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince- about pilgrims health during Hajj period.
