SFDA Organized a Workshop entitled: “ Licensing of non-pharmaceutical Feed Additives Organizations & Registration of its Products”

 SFDA, represented by its Executive Department for Feed and in coordination with the Executive Department for Communication & Awareness of Drug Sector, organized a workshop entitled: “ Licensing of non-pharmaceutical Feed Additives Organizations & Registration of its Products” on Tuesday 6/8/1433h ( 26/6/2012) at the main lecture room at SFDA Head Office, Riyadh. Invitations were distributed to to Government and Private entities concerned with Feed and non- pharmaceutical Feed Additives, including owners and importers of animal feed and non- pharmaceutical feed additives organizations. The work shop activities started with a reciting from the Holy Quran, followed by SFDA speech delivered by H.E. Vice President for Food Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saad Al Mehaizie. Dr. Al Mehaizie pointed out that the achievement of food safety and security for both human beings and animals is one of the key objectives for which SFDA was founded. He also  emphasized the importance of feed safety and security and its impact on human food and products where contamination of some feed and feed additives have contributed to many food disasters in USA and the West Countries, e.g. feed contamination with Bromates, chlorine, Phenol & Dioxin which are causing cancer. However, everyone is aware of Mad Cow disease due to feeding animals with nontraditional feed, extracted from animal origin.

At the end of the speech, Dr. Al Mehaizie thanked the audience for their participation and contribution to the success of the workshop and wishing them success. After that, the workshop activities started including three dimensions: 1) Detailed description of registration mechanism of the organizations working in the field of feed additives, e.g. factories, companies & warehouses and including registration pre-requisites. 2) Detailed description of registration mechanism of non- pharmaceutical feed additives products, including registration of domestic and imported products ; and 3) A brief presentation fo the National Register of Feed.

At the end of the workshop, questions were received and answers were made. The Executive Director of Feed Department. Dr. Zuhair Mulla extended his thanks and appreciations to all who contributed to the success this workshop and thanked all the audience for good listening and participation.
