SFDA Participates in the Arab Health Exhibition, 2013

H.E. Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Altayar, SFDA’s Vice President for Medical Devices  & Products, confirmed that SFDA has  imposed stringent controls on Medical Devices  & Products whereby no medical devices and products will allowed to enter the market unless a marketing permission is obtained from SFDA and that the manufacturer must have an authorized representative residing in the Kingdom; and licensed by SFDA. He added that SFDA has restricted and damaged devices and products valued at approximately SR 150 Million as of 2012 year end,in coordination with Customs Department.This was released in the Arab Health Conference & Exhibition 2013 held in Dubai, UAE wherein over 3500 companies have participated, representing 63 countries from all over the world.
SFDA’s stand in the said exhibition offered many services and facilities to the manufacturers and importers in the Saudi Market while displayed several services, electronic systems, conditions and requirements that enable manufacturers and importers to market their products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Altayar stated that SFDA’s presence in this conference came to demonstrate SFDA’s keenness to communicate with the private sector (manufacturers and importers) in order to explain to them SFDA’s conditions & requirements related to the import and distribution of medical devices and products in addition to the conditions & requirements related to foreign manufacturer’s authorized representative in the Kingdom.
It worth mentioning that the Arab Health Conference & Exhibition included several health care providers in the Middle East Region, a large number of health care professionals, government officials, wholesale traders, agents, distributors and health care workers.
