The SFDA and the Cultural Houses Organize Workshop on Safe Antibiotic Use Next Week

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), in cooperation with the Cultural Houses “Al-Taawun Public Library”, one of initiatives under the Libraries Commission – will organize an awareness workshop under the theme “Today’s Awareness is Tomorrow’s Safety.” The event will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at the library’s headquarters in Riyadh, and aims to shed light on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and its threat to public health.

The workshop will cover several key topics, most notably an introduction to the concept of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the One Health approach. It will also discuss the side effects of antibiotic use and the risks associated with medication misuse. Additionally, the workshop will focus on raising awareness about the importance of the safe use of antibiotics.

This initiative comes as part of the SFDA’s ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and reduce the risks resulting from the misuse of antibiotics, in line with its mission to protect public health and enhance community safety.
