CEO of SFDA Meets with Chinese Officials in Beijing to Enhance Cooperation

The Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, led the SFDA delegation on an official visit to the People's Republic of China to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) and to participate in the 8th Shenzhen Food Safety Forum.
Dr. Aljadhey visited several counterpart authorities today, accompanied by H.E. Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to China.
The first visit was to the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA), where they discussed best practices in food safety risk assessment and highlighted China’s experience in this area.
The delegation then visited the Institute for Biological Product Control (IBPC) at the National Institute for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC), where they talked about collaborative research and development projects focused on vaccines, biosimilars, and innovative therapeutic products. They also addressed advancements in gene and cell therapies and other related topics.
Another visit was to the National Institute of Biological Sciences (NIBS), where they met with the Director, Dr. Xiaodong Wang. They reviewed the institute's research initiatives and its role in discovering biomedicines, as well as the companies established through the NIBS.
These engagements mark a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China in the field of food and drug regulation, with the aim of enhancing public health, promoting innovation, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of products.
