SFDA: Healthy and Balanced Meals Improve Students’ Performance and Boost their Energy

2024-08-18

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) stressed on the importance of providing healthy nutrients in school lunch bags for students due to their significant role in improving performance, increasing concentration, and supplying the body with energy. This can help reduce feelings of fatigue and hunger during the school day.

The SFDA also highlighted the need to choose foods rich in fiber to aid digestion and boost the feeling of fullness. It recommended replacing white bread with whole grain options, opting for fresh fruits instead of dried ones, and selecting natural juices instead of nectar and syrup juices that contain added sugars.

Moreover, they called for the avoidance of low-nutrient foods, such as french fries, which are high in fats, sugars, and calories but lack essential vitamins and minerals.

Finally, they pointed out the importance of wrapping sandwiches in “nylon” packaging and avoiding exposing plastic products to sunlight and high heat, as this can lead to the transfer of harmful chemicals to food.
