SFDA Carried out an Inspection Campaign on 416 Pesticide Plants and Discovered 161 Non-complying Facilities

Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) carried out an inspection campaign that included 416 pesticide facilities in different areas, 161 non-complying facilities and 247 unregistered products were detected. The statutory measure were taken against them.
Inspectors stressed that the unregistered or banned pesticides should not be sold or spread in the market. They also emphasized necessity of the good storage for the products and providing certificate of registration for the pesticides by agent, in addition to the availability of an engineer in the facility. SFDA inspectors distributed warning labels on facilities.
The Campaign detected seven non-complying facilities and 16 unregistered pesticides in Hail, 16 non-complying facilities and 16 unregistered pesticides in Eastern Province, 13 non-complying facilities and 19 unregistered pesticides in Al-Baha, 8 non-complying facilities and 25 unregistered pesticides in Jazan and 12 non-complying facilities and 16 unregistered pesticides in the Northern Borders Region.
The Campaign also caught 16 non-complying facilities and 30 unregistered pesticides in Al-Madinah Al Munawwarah, 16 non-complying facilities and 27 unregistered pesticides in the Riyadh, as well as 10 non-complying facilities and 10 unregistered facilities in Tabuk, 5 non-complying facilities and 5 unregistered pesticides in al-Jawf and 19 non-complying facilities and 24 unregistered pesticides in Asir.
Saudi Food and Drug inspectors discovered 24 non-complying facilities and 34 unregistered pesticides in Al-Qassim and15 non-complying facilities and 25 unregistered pesticides in Makkah.
SFDA team will complete the second stage of the inspection campaign, which includes visits to companies, establishments, warehouses and pesticides shops to check if they comply with the standards. The team will also visit pest control facilities to ensure that the mentioned facilities practice their activity and complete the registration and licensing procedures.
