East Region's Chamber of Commerce Hosts the Chief Executive Officer of Saudi FDA

The Chamber of Commerce - East Region- hosted on Tuesday 21/4/1431H, H.E Dr. Mohammad bin Ahmad Al Kanhal , the chief executive officer, president of Saudi Food & Drug Authority in its "Tuesday" monthly meeting.

Dr. Al Kanhal explained the goals and mission of SFDA and its efforts to realize them and referred to SFDA regulations which are being prepared by SFDA and require participation of all concerned parties.
Dr. Al Kanhal emphasized that SFDA is working in integration with all ministries in the Kingdom and includes representatives from the private sector in its board of directors membership.
In line with transparency and openness principle, H.E. stated that SFDA has concluded a contract with an expert German Organization specialized in development of food regulations and controls. He further explained that Food Sector accomplishments are represented by the development of an integrated feed regulations project.
With regard to the Drug Sector, Dr. Al Kanhal stated that the sector currently supervises and controls 80% of drugs (i.e. Licensing, registration and pricing) in addition to control of drug warehouses, except pharmacies due to insufficient resources to cover all regions of the Kingdom. His Excellency emphasized that SFDA has recently set a control system for imported drugs
Mr. Abdulah Al Ammar, vice president of east region chamber of commerce, thanked SFDA for its efforts, and praised, in front of t he audience, SFDA efforts in serving investments in the field of food, drug and medical devices and products, asking them all to cooperate with SFDA in order to reach a safe and secure food for all. At the end of the meeting a memorial Shield was given by SFDA to the Chamber of Commerce- East Region and memorial photographs were taken.
