Your Excellencies…the attendants
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh…
I welcome you in this blessed day in which I inaugurate the first national campaign for food safety awareness entitled "No for Food Poisoning" on behalf of his Royal Highness Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Vice President of Ministers Council, the Minister of Defense and Aviation, the General Inspector and the Chairman of the SFDA Board of Directors, may God protect him.
The government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince is concerned about the health of citizens and residents, for that reason it established the "Saudi Food and Drug Authority" which is responsible of protecting safety of food and drug of human and animal, safety of medical products and devices and educating consumers about what relates to food and drug.
In regard to the importance of food safety and its effect on human health, the SFDA has organized this campaign.
Dear attendants..
It is known that poisoning accidents cause sufferance to citizens and affect their health and productivity, beside that they affect the national economy. For that reason, the Ministers Council issued a decree in year 1411H to form committees for food poisoning cases and epidemical
investigation; the committees were formed from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipality and Rural Affairs and in year 1426H the SFDA was added, to investigate about food poisoning cases, their reasons, how to limit them and punish the responsible.
At the end…
I thank arrangers of the campaign for their sincere efforts asking God that it accomplishes its goals and reflects positive results on the awareness of citizens, residents, food producers and all workers in field of food safety. And thanks extend to all participants.
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh
