SFDA Organized a Workshop in the Field of “Enhancement of Imported Food Control”, in collaboration with GIZ

 Saudi Food & Drug Authority, represented by Food Sector,  organized a work shop for launching Phase II of “Enhancement of Imported Food Control Program” in collaboration with GIZ on Wednesday, 17/11/1433H at SFDA main Auditorium in Riyadh.

The workshop reviewed key accomplishment of Phase I of the Project in all related departments represented by Human resources Capability building through domestic and overseas training in countries of successful experience in the field of control work, in addition to development of business processes and business manuals and provision of the required modern equipment and devices to the concerned departments, especially laboratories.

From his part, Dr. Ibrahim Al Mehaizie, Vice President for Food Sector, emphasized the importance of this project, related to imported food, representing a very important ring in the food safety chain in the Kingdom, considering the achievement made in Phase I would not have been attained without the assistance of Almighty Allah, synergies of the technical teams and SFDA Senior Management’s support.

Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al Mershid, Executive Director of Imported Food Control Department, explained that the related execution work of the next phase will represent fruit - collection phase and will require doubled efforts, whereas this phase is considered the practical implementation and training phase that will be witnessed by all. The enhancement will also include automation of the business systems.

The workshop was ended with an open discussion and proposals of all project members and finally Dr. Al Mehaizie announced the launch of Phase II of the project and reiterated his thanks to all participants, wishing them success in achievement of their works.
