SFDA Participated in Control Authorities’ Professionals Conference, Seattle

Saudi Food & Drug Authority participated in the 12th. conference of Control Authorities Professional for medical devices & products in Seattle, USA during the period 27-30 October 2012. Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Al Tayar, SFDA VP and Chairman of AHWG for medical devices and products, represented the Kingdom in this conference.
SFDA participated by two papers in this conference, one of them was about the role of AHWG for medical devices & products in realizing harmonization of regulations and requirements of monitoring of medical devices & products between the 23 member states of the group including China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa and Chille, in addition to KSA. Jordan, Kuwait, Yemen and UAE from the Arab World.
At his part, Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Al Tayar, explained through the second paper re. the international activities of cooperation between the international organizations involved in training and capability building. He emphasized on cooperation with WHO via creating an extensive training program aiming to build capabilities of developing countries in the field of monitoring of medical devices & products in order to ensure safety, quality and efficiency of medical devices & products n these countries which will have positive impact on the level of healthcare provided to patients in member states.
It worth mentioning that SFDA’s participation in this conference, as the Chairman of AHWG for medical devices & products in the joint training team, comes as evidence of the unlimited support given by the Government of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, Chairman of SFDA Board, in the field of medical devices & products and enhancement of the public health in the Kingdom, to serve the citizens.
