SFDA Joins The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries ( SMIIC)

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SFDA & SASO, joined the membership of the General Assembly and the Board of The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), subtending to the Islamic Cooperation Organization located in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. This was based on the Royal  approval issued in the Royal Decree and Council of Ministers’ Resolution approving SFDA & SASO accession to SMIIC and to represent the Kingdom, each in their respective fields.This accession came through attendance of the 4th. SMIIC General Assembly held during the period 16-17l4l2013 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. During the meeting, the Kingdom was elected as a Board member of the Institute.

It worth mentioning that SMIIC aims to Standardize the Specification in order to enable member states to capture the economic benefits of these specifications in strengthening the cooperation, exchange of trade and establishment of a recognized certification system in order to exchange goods and products between member states, and to align member states in the field of specification, laboratory tests, standardization activities and offering information services, technical assistance and expertise.
