During a visit to SFDA: HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib praised SFDA’s fruitful efforts saying that it brought benefit to the Country and Citizens

HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Rural & Municipal Affairs expressed his appreciation of SFDA’s significant role and effort in realization of safety of food and security of drug in the Kingdom. HRH has also admired the rapid growth and development in the field of control of food and drug, thus keeping pace with reputed FDA’s worldwide and bringing benefit to the nation and citizens by improving the public health in the Kingdom.
This was mentioned during the visit of HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Rural &Municipal Affairs and SFDA’s Board Member, to SFDA Head Office in Riyadh where he was received by H.E. Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal and Vice Presidents for Food, Drug and Medical Devices & Products Sectors.
At the beginning, Dr. Al Kanhal thanked HRH and his delegation for this visit to SFDA and explained SFDA principles and adoption of transparency as a method for assurance of safety, , security, quality and efficacy of drugs and efficiency and safety of medical devices & products. In addition, Dr Al Kanhal introduced SFDA’s Sectors, objectives and work development and progress to his guests.
Dr. Al Kanhal emphasized the importance of animal feed and its impact on human beings, through the nutritional chain, giving “Mad Cow” disease as an example. He emphasized that SFDA will make quality transition in control and monitoring of food, drug and medical devices & products by benefiting from other countries experiences. Such control will be supported by a strong IT base to facilitate tracking , inspection and recall of products, if required and to direct supervisors via multiple technology channels to spot violating sites.
Towards the end of the visit and after visiting SFDA Drug Sector, Prince Metib confirmed the integrated role and cooperation between SFDA & Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs while he appreciated the joint committees’ effort in control of local food industries , herbal products and food & drug stores. Prince Metib received a memorial shield from H.E Chief Executive Officer of SFDA in this event.
