SFDA Inspectors detected cosmetics shops in Riyadh, which sells pharmaceuticals, upon a report made by one of the  citizens.
SFDA explained in a statement, that a report was received from a citizen about selling pharmaceuticals in cosmetics shops at Imam Faisal bin Turki Street (Al Khazan Street) in Riyadh. SFDA took the initiative to organize an inspection campaign included 12 stores and 6 warehouses in the street. During the campaign, SFDA seized more than 520 pharmaceuticals products that should not be sold in beauty shops.
Inspectors confiscated the pharmaceuticals, and took legal action against the violating shops.
SFDA called all citizens and residents, to report any violations via the unified call center 19999
SFDA organized inspection visits that included 150 Pharmacies in various regions around the Kingdom, which led to detection of 2446 violated Cosmetics in 45 pharmacies in one month.
Among the 20 Pharmacies SFDA visited in Riyadh, 9 pharmacies got 1181 violations, while in Jeddah it was found that 5 pharmacies were in violation out of 20 that SFDA inspectors visited, and found out 157 violating Cosmetics.
In Dammam SFDA Inspectors revealed 6 ,out of 20,  inspected pharmacies were in violation and seized 141 violated Cosmetics. In Medina 9 out of 30 pharmacies were in violation and 494 violating Cosmetics were found. In Khamis Mushayt the inspection included 30 Pharmacies, and 183 violated Cosmetics were seized in 6 pharmacies, while 30 other Pharmacies were inspected in Abha where 293 violated Cosmetics were found  in 10 pharmacies.
SFDA also continues to track any persons who promote pharmaceutical and herbal products across social networking sites and websites. SFDA efforts resulted in detecting dozens of sites and persons involved in in these activities, and 50 mobile phone numbers were spotted which belong to people who promote pharmaceutical and herbal products and were escalated to the concerned authorities to complete the proceedings against them.
SFDA is currently pursuing 36 people involved in promoting these cosmetics, by communicating with them to order these mixtures, lotions, and arrange  with them a certain date to deliver such products, and hence apprehend them and confiscate their goods. SFDA also sent the mobile numbers and sites to the Ministry of Interior for those ones that could not be caught by SFDA, to work on the follow-up and the Investigation of those people.
So far 65 locations and accounts were spotted on social networks, all promoting pharmaceutical and herbal products, and all were dealt with according to SFDA policy. All users were identified, even if those sites and account names on social networks were changed, in coordination with the concerned Information Technology &Telecommunications Commission (CITC), Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Interior authorities.
