SFDA Launches Smart Shopping Campaign

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is launching today in Jeddah the "Smart Shopper" campaign.
The campaign aims to increase the level of awareness among community members and children, especially about healthy food and its safety, introducing the correct methods of choosing products, educating them about safe shopping, in addition to clarifying some nutritional claims.
The campaign, which will tour a number of cities in the Kingdom until next March 11, focuses on issues of food safety, healthy food, the importance of healthy meals during the day, calories, and instructions for dealing with the food label.
Shopping is one of the important stages in food safety, which means that food is free of all contamination factors that turn it into food that is harmful to the health of the consumer. For this, a set of rules must be followed to avoid poisoning in order to reach a healthy and sound diet.
