SFDA Hosts Middle East Regulatory Conference for Drug Legislations

SFDA will host tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Riyadh Marriot Hotel “The 11th. Middle East Regulatory Conference (MERC) for drug legislations” under the auspice of H.E. SFDA CEO, DR. Mohamed bin Abdul Rahman Almishal in coordination sith Drug Information Association (DIA).
The conference was attended by participants from GCC Countries, Arab Countries, Europe, WHO and non-profit organizations and discussed several issues including updates on the local drug regulations and quality of pharmaceutical products in terms of commitment to standards, scientific and treatment innovations and relevant regulatory practices, assessment of biological products and assurance of patient safety and updates on Pharmacovigilence.
SFDA Drug Sector participates with five business papers viz : “Updates on the Drug Regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” , presented by H.E Vice President for Drug Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Al Juffali, “Assessment of Registration Procedures and Practices… Saudi Arabia vs Australia, Canada and Singapore”, presented by the Executive Director of Licensing Department DR. Hajid Hashaan and “SFDA role in countering fake drugs”, presented by the Executive Director of Inspection and enforcement Department Pharmacist Mohammed Dahaas and “A study in regulation of biological products in the Middle East”, presented by the Executive Director of Assessment Department DR. Ali Al Hemaidan” and “Pharmacovigilence Updates in the Middle East”, presented by the Executive Director of Vigilance & Evaluation of Benefits and Risks Department DR. Hajid Hashaan.
The conference is held every two years in the Middle East Region and  bring together the control authorities in the region and the local and international drug companies. The conference addresses drug regulations, legislations and procedures in participation with developed countries. During this event the 20th. anniversary of establishment of this Conference and the significant progress it has achieved during that period, will be celebrated
The Drug Information Association is classified as an specialized international organization, linking health care specialists and professionals to develop drug products in a neutral environment in order to improve health all over the world
