SFDA Lifts the Temporary Embargo on Brazilian Beef Imports & Approves of Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture as a Control Authority

SFDA lifted the temporary embargo on beef & products Imports from the federal republic of Brazil. This decision was made upon review of the decision of the International Organization of Animal Health (OIE) No. 21 dated 26/5/2015 classifying Brazil as a country with negligible hazards of Mad-Cow Disease(BSE) and also upon SFDA Technical team report, who reviewed the actions taken by the concerned authorities in Brazil to control mad-cow disease, as well as the technical report of the technical and health requirements that should be met in beef and products shipments to the Kingdom-  signed by SFDA, represented by the Vice President for Food Sector Dr. Salah Almiman and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock resources and catering in Brazil represented by the Minister, Cathie Airo.

SFDA also approved of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock resources and catering in Brazil as an approved control authority and authorized to approve of the beef and products exports organizations, licensed by the Ministry to export to the Kingdom in coordination with SFDA
