SFDA Launches ‘Safe Handling of Pesticides’ Campaign

H.E. the Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Almishal launched today ‘Safe Handling of Pesticides’ Campaign, at SFDA Headquarters. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness about the proper handling of pesticides at the time of purchase, use and storage of same in addition to the methods of protection from insects.                 

The awareness campaign will continue for one week and includes definition of public health pesticides approved by SFDA than can be viewed through SFDA web site.

SFDA has produced an awareness film about the ideal methods of using pesticides and distributed it on its channel on you tube. It also distributed awareness flyers providing guidance on safe handling and storage of pesticides and the 5 classifications of pesticides dangers according to WHo, with clarification of images on pesticides containers, first aid to people who are poisoned by pesticides. Description of signs on pesticides containers labels including composition, characteristics, usage and precautions in addition to advice about how to keep pesticides away from residence.

Followers of SFDA account on twitter: @Saudi FDA will be familiar with the guidelines on safe handling of pesticides at the time of purchase, before and during use together with tips on safe storage and disposal of pesticides.

This campaign comes in line with SFDA awareness program about food, drug, medical devices & products and pesticides. The last awareness campaigns were under the banners: ‘Fur the sake of your eyes” and “Drug Pharmacovigilence.” Preceded by “Herbs Mixes”,” let us protect them from food poisoning”. “Antibiotics is not the solution”, “”Safe Microwave”, “Meat and Sciences” in addition to “ Food &Drug Tch.” And “Awareness on Hajj” programs.
