SFDA Seized 47 Tons of Fruit-Flavored Tobacco Products Due to High Level of Glycerin

Saudi Food and Drug Authority launched inspection campaigns on warehouses and shops which import and distribute tobacco products in Riyadh and Jeddah. SFDA inspectors seized more than 47 tons of different types of tobacco. It was proved that these products have high concentration of glycerin with 10% more than the permitted percentage. This is considered contrary to the specification of the fruit-flavored tobacco (GSO 1479/2011).
SFDA said that inspection teams intensified their inspection tours to the importers and distributors of tobacco products warehouses and shops, as part of its strategic plan to control tobacco products. The mentioned plan seeks to prevent the spreading the use of tobacco products and counterfeited products. SFDA referred that the legal procedures were taken against non-compliances.
