H.E Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal and Principal of Sulman bin Abdul Aziz University, H.E. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Assimi, signed today, Monday, 30/6/1433H a joint cooperation and strategic partnership agreement at the honorary University City Hall at Alseeh. The purpose of the agreement is to build a strategic cooperation relationship to regulate and facilitate cooperation between members of the two institutions and to define the scope of joint cooperation.

 The event was opened with a welcome speech followed by a presentation delivered by Dr. Nassir bin Hammad Aljaidi, Dean of Prince Abdulrahman bin Nassir Research & Consultancy Services Institute wherein he reviewed the vision , mission and goals of the institute and key areas of cooperation between SFDA and the University, e.g. membership and participation of SFDA staff in scientific and consultancy committees of the respective colleges and sections. Also, to benefit from the available recourses university to SFDA, training of university students at SFDA laboratories and facilities and participation in research and services projects.

Towards the end, Dr. Aljiaidi expressed his pleasure with signing this agreement which is considered an important step for the Institute and an addition to its achievements in the previous period. Then , Dr. AL Assimi delivered a speech wherein he thanked HE Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal and accompanying delegation. He stressed that this visit comes to confirm the unique SFDA vision in ensuring safety of citizens and expatriates as it covers safety of food, drugs and various products.

He stressed that the agreement will benefit both University & SFDA in the field of exchange of experiences, research, studies and scientific forums and will put the young University of Sulman under the SFDA disposal. Finally, he thanked all participants hoping that the agreement will be the first step for more fruitful agreements in the way to achieve the goals of our community services.

After that, Dr. Al Kanhal delivered a comprehensive presentation about SFDA journey, key roles , achievements and objectives, covering safety of drugs for both human beings and animals and drug security and efficacy, safety of biotic & health products, medical plants, pesticides, cosmetics, medical glasses, contact lens & solutions, safety of electronic devices, accuracy of medical and diagnostic devices calibration and ensuring that they do not affect human health. He stressed that SFDA completely believes in strategic planning of its works and performance and in coordination with other government bodies in order to achieve its mission i.e. ensure safety of food, security, safety and efficacy of drug and safety and efficiency of medical devices through building an efficient monitoring system. He expressed his pleasure with this agreement and hoped that it will soon be implemented on the ground. Dr. Al Kanhal added that SFDA has much more offering to the University. Finally, he thanked all University staff, signed the agreement and exchanged memorial shields and souvenirs and took collective photos for University staff & SFDA delegation.
