Saudi Food & Drug Authority is hosting the 2nd meeting of the International Heads of Food Agencies Forum (IHFAF) under the theme ‘’modernization of food system’’.

The meeting which is held virtually, will discuss developing food system and sustaining food supply chain, and will shed light on advancing scientific  communication of topics related to food safety.

Many countries and international organization will be participating in the meeting such as Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ),  the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), Food Safety Commission of Japan (FSCJ), Singapore Food Agency (SFA),  Office National de Sécurité Sanitaire des Produits Alimentaires (ONSSA), China National Center For Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA), Public authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Chile Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), Codex Alimentarius, FAO, and INFOSAN-WHO.

The forum which is held annually aims for the heads of food agencies to share strategic directions and discus food issues with global repercussions, in addition to identify possible areas of cooperation to sustain the safety of food and nutrition. Riyadh hosted on January 2020 the 1st meeting of the International Heads of Food Agencies Forum (IHFAF) which witnessed the birth of this forum, also an emergency meeting of the forum was held in August 2020 on the sidelines of G20 meetings which Saudi Arabia presided over to discuss the latest updates on food availability and safety  during (COVID-19).

Food
