SFDA shed light upon the awareness Saudi consumers about food safety in an international virtual event

Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) participated in a virtual poster event , which was organized recently by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in collaboration with the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). The event aimed to discuss combining efforts to confront a mutual challenge facing all local and international food agencies which is building and maintaining trust with stakeholders and the public.
International agencies such as the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), the Cyprus Ministry of Health, the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries, Health Canada, and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) participated in the event which was entitled (Building Trust- Poster Presentation From each corner of the world).
SFDA participated with the poster “Awareness of the Saudi Consumers about food safety”, which aimed to ensure that consumers had sufficient knowledge that enable them to consume safe food that promote public health. The Senior Risk Communication Specialist, Mrs. Roaa A. Almarwani, pointed out that identifying consumer’s concerns related to food risks and addressing them will have a positive impact on consumer trust in the food agency.
This event was a part of a journey to create a community of practice aiming to maintain trust in food safety agencies and exchanging expertise and lessons learned.
