SFDA confirmed that the two colours E129 & E110 are allowed to be used in food products according to the GSO 23 Saudi/GCC Regulations: ‘Coloured materials used in food stuff’, pointing out that the international regulations such as CODEX, FDA and EU provided allowance of using these colours in food products.

SFDA inspectors captured  huge quantities of expired dates  and other quantities of rotting dates in a dates products factory in Makkah, in addition to poor cleaning  of the factory warehouses and dead rats found therein.

SFDA captured over 258 thousand contaminated juice packs in a factory in Riyadh city, which were  ready for distribution to the market.

In a statement, SFDA clarified that its inspection teams held 285479 packs of juice and juice drinks (Orange,   Straw berry and Lemon) and Cola in one of the big juice factories in the second industrial city after confirming that they are contaminated with microbes and are not suitable for human consumption

SFDA  warned consumers from taking potable water produced by Saqia factory, as it exceeds the permissible level of Bromate.

SFDA inspectors detected 41 tons of expired meat and fish in a warehouse in Dammam. In a statement, SFDA declared that its inspectors captured a warehouse that stored expired imported meat in Al Khalidiya 2 Section in Dammam, out of this quantity is 38 tons of frozen red and white meat and 3 tons of frozen fish and shrimps, pointing out that part of this meat was expired before more than one year and is prepared for distribution to the local market.

SFDA  temporarily embargoed imports of poultry meat, table eggs and products from  British Colombia, Canada,  due to  presence of severe Bird Flu infections.

 أعلنت هيئة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية (FDA) بتاريخ 18 /1/ 2009م الموافق 21/1/1430هـ أن منتج الفول السوداني وعجينة الفول السوداني المنتجة في مصانع الشركة الأمريكية للفول السوداني Peanut Corporation of America (PCA)  في كل من ولاية جورجيا وكناتيكت ملوثة ببكتريا السالمونيلا تايفموريم Salmonella Typhimurium، وذلك بناءا على نتائج العينات التي قامت بها ولاية منيسوتا وجورجيا الامريكية ، وكما اوضحت الشركة الأمريكية للفول السوداني (PCA)

أعلنت وكالة الصحة الحكومية الكندية في موقعها على الانترنت عن تفشي وباء سببته بكتيريا تسمى اللستيريا (LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES)، حيث تعاونت الوكالة مع عدد من الهيئات المحلية والإقليمية في عدد من الولايات و ذلك للتحقق من أن الحالات التي تم اكتشافها تحمل نفس البصمة الوراثية للبكتيريا.
وحتى إعداد هذا الخبر، تم رصد 26 حالة إصابة بعدوى بكتيريا اللستيريا في كندا منها 12 حالة وفاة. كما تم اكتشاف 29 حالة إضافية مصابة بالبكتيريا، و الهيئة الكندية تحاول التحقق من البصمة الوراثية لها.
