HRH Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, Vice Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior, Chairman of SFDA Board of Directors thanked H.E. the Chief Executive Officer of SFDA and employees in the advent of election , by AHWP consensus, of Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Al Tayar, SFDA Vice President for Medical Devices & Products Sector to Chair AHWP for a period of Three Years Starting 2012,

SFDA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal, received yesterday at SFDA Head Office, H.E President of Ports Corporation, Engineer Abdul Aziz Al Tuwijri and Ports Directors. At the beginning of the meeting Dr. Al Kanhal welcomed Engineer Al Tuwijri and his accompanying delegation and emphasized SFDA keenness to embrace the principles of transparency and clarity aiming to strengthen assurance of food and safety, drug security and efficacy and safety and efficiency of medical devices and products.

SFDA has recently collected samples of various potable drinking water, locally produced and packed, from different production dates to check for compliance with GCC Standard Specifications No. ( 1025/2009- Potable Drinking Water).The said specification set out the maximum permissible limit of Bromate at (10 ppm). Laboratory analysis of Al Haramain water samples “size 4&5 Gallons”, produced by Al Haramain water plant in Dammam Province, revealed that they exceeded the maximum allowed limit of Bromate.

SFDA has detected an imitated medical product used in connecting Inhaler Devices , for treatment of patients of respiratory system diseases. The imitated device is marketed under the name : “ Air _ O_ Chamber” , which is an imitation of the genuine product “ AeroChamber”.

Based on SFDA’s follow up of the latest updates of epidemic diseases at the global level, it is found, according to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) report, that FMD disease is continuing to spread in Bangladesh.

Further to SFDA approval of interested organizations in export of meat and meat products to the kingdom.., approval of the Vice President for Food Sector was issued to approve of some organizations and update the list of previously approved organizations for export of meat from Jordan as follows:
First: Approval of the following two organizations
1. National Poultry Company
2. Seniorah Food Industries Company
To export their processed red and white meat products from safe sources to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Further to the previous communication on SFDA website dated 7 Shaban 1432H (8 July 2011) regarding the news published on some newspapers related to safety and security issues of using Angiotensin – receptor Blockers (ARBs) and its relation with the risk of developing cancer, where ARBs are used to control high blood pressure, heart failure and diabetic kidney disorders ( click here to view ARBs registered in the Kingdom)
