SFDA CEO: Cosmetic Regulations Controls Fraud and Conforms with Similar International Organizations Legislations

H.E. the Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Almishal sent his thanks and appreciations to the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and HRH Prince Migrin bin Abdul Aziz, Chairman of SFDA Board of Directors upon approval of Cosmetic Regulations by the Council of Ministers.

Dr. Almishal emphasized that the approval of the Cosmetic Regulations comes to confirm keenness of the Wise Leadership to control these products according to a stringent regulation that controls fraud of these products, expressing the leadership keenness to insure safety of the citizens and expatriates.

He added,’ Issuance of this regulation, among a package of other laws and regulations developed by SFDA to bridge the gap in legislations by building regulations to control these products, especially that the annual growth of Kingdom’s market of these products is 10%’

Dr. Almishal ended his speech by praising Allah for granting a wise leadership and government to this country who focus on citizens health a top priority. The Council of Minister, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques approved in its session yesterday the Cosmetic Regulations and prepared a Royal Decree  to this effect.

The main characteristics of this regulation involve enforcement of its provisions on cosmetic products, their factories, warehouses and trading. SFDA shall issue technical bylaws and standard specifications for cosmetics, their factories and staff requirements. SFDA shall identify the restricted materials and limited materials used in cosmetic products and publish them on its website. In addition, SFDA shall verify conformity of cosmetic products with the approved technical bylaws and standard specifications and conditions. However, cosmetic products shall not be imported or traded within the Kingdom unless it is registered in SFDA and a registration certificate to this effect is obtained.
