The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved renewing the selection of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) as a center for international cooperation in medical devices and supplies for four years, with the approval of transforming the regional center into a global center covering the eastern Mediterranean and Africa, and the scientific and technical work of the WHO internationally.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) reviewed its role in addressing the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and its effectiveness during the pandemic, and the tasks entrusted to it in combating epidemics.

Dutch regulatory and scientific bodies praised the experience of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to efficiently and effectively contain the outbreak of the Coronavirus. They also lauded the development of the health sector in particular in the field of vigilance and drug safety, monitoring the safety of medicines, evaluating pharmaceutical, biological and veterinary products, monitoring food products, devices and medical products and assessing their risks.
