Regarding the SFDA vision that adopts the responsibility of being a regional pioneer monitoring authority in field of food, drug and medical devices as well as offering professional services that enhance health safety in the Kingdom; the SFDA made a national achievement by joining the technical work group in the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF) for monitoring medical devices and products; which includes the USA, Canada, European Union countries, Australia and Japan.

​H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal, Chief Executive Officer of SFDA, inaugurated the new Official SFDA Portal: in its totally new, different and updated format, depending on a ‘friendly access feature’. The portal was designed to enable visitors  to access all portal sections from ‘homepage’. The portal included several sections e.g. Food Sector, Drug Sector, Medical devices & Products Sector and Electronic Services. The main menu contains several important sections such as news, alerts, awareness center and communication center.

 SFDA Organized a Blood Donation Campaign, in cooperation with King Fahad Medical City Blood Bank for one week starting (19/7/1433), coinciding with the International Blood Donation Day.

 HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Municipal & Rural Affairs extended his thanks to SFDA for their effort in assurance of food safety and drug quality and efficacy and efficiency of medical devices and products.
HRH stated in a written Cable sent to SFDA chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Kanhal, “ I am pleased with the improvement witnessed in SFDA performance and their support to the National human resources, and utilization of modern high-tech tools in food monitoring.

  HRH Prince Mansur bin Metib, Minister of Rural & Municipal Affairs expressed his appreciation of SFDA’s significant role and effort in realization of safety of food and security of drug in the Kingdom. HRH has also admired the rapid growth and development in the field of control of food and drug, thus keeping pace with reputed FDA’s worldwide and bringing benefit to the nation and citizens by improving the public health in the Kingdom.

  Saudi Food & Drug Authority has organized a meeting between Food & Drug Sectors executives and the delegation oo the Chinese Quality Certificates Center . H.E. SFDA Vice President for Food Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al Mehaizie briefed the Chinese delegation on SFDA in general, and Food Sector ,in particular. Also, H.E. SFDA Vice President for Drug Affairs, Dr. Saleh Bawazir gave a briefing about Drug Sector , especially in the field of Cosmetic products.

In view of SFDA’s role of control of food and assurance of food safety. And; based on OIE reports dated 12/12/2011 and 23/12/2011 and websites and newspapers topics about H5N1 epidemic revert in China and Hong Kong.
