​H.E. Dr. Saleh bin Sulaiman Altayar, SFDA’s Vice President for Medical Devices  & Products, confirmed that SFDA has  imposed stringent controls on Medical Devices  & Products whereby no medical devices and products will allowed to enter the market unless a marketing permission is obtained from SFDA and that the manufacturer must have an authorized representative residing in the Kingdom; and licensed by SFDA.

SFDA exhibition stand was launched in the World Fare of Medicine “MEDICA 2012”, Dusseldorf, Germany, during the period 14-17 November, 2012. The exhibition was visited by huge number of visitors, both in quantity and quality, who were able to stand closely on the advanced and easy services offered  by SFDA to manufacturers and importers and its electronic services and systems. Several flyers were delivered to introduce SFDA in general and Medical Devices & Products Sector in particular.

انطلاقاً من مبدأ الشراكة بين الهيئة العامة للغذاء و الدواء والمنشآت العاملة في مجال الأجهزة و المنتجات الطبية و الذين تعتبرهم الهيئة شركاء إستراتيجيين لها في رقابة الأجهزة و المنتجات الطبية . يسر قطاع الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية بالهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء وبالتعاون مع الغرف التجارية الصناعية دعوة ممثلي الشركات والمؤسسات والمنشآت العاملة في مجال الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية لحضور ورش العمل (المستجدات في أنظمة رقابة الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية في المملكة العربية السعودية) والتي ستقام في كل من : الرياض والدمام حسب الجدول المرفق:

 The SFDA represented by the Medical Devices Sector intends to fulfill its responsibilities with respect to regulating medical devices to ensure their safety, quality, effectiveness and their performance according to the manufacturers intended purpose.

عقدت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء ممثلة بقطاع الأجهزة والمنتجات الطبية مساء يوم الاثنين 29/06/1430هـ الموافق 22/06/2009م اجتماعا لمناقشه الخطوات الأخيرة لانطلاقه الاستبيان الخاص بتقييم عيادات ومراكز البصريات في أنحاء المملكة.

Under the auspices the president of Saudi Food & Drug Authority professor\ Mohamed Al Kanhal the First workshop in Medical Device Problem Reporting in the healthcare facilities was held during 27-28 Shawwal 1426 Hegira corresponding to 29-30 November 2005 in Riyadh Intercontinental hotel .A group of experts from various countries participated in the workshop ( USA , Canada , Germany , UK) as well as Emergency Care Research institute (ECRI) .the workshop was attended by a large number of specialized and concerned people and the number of attendance exceeded one hundred person.

Under the auspices of the president of Saudi Food & Drug Authority professor\ Mohamed Al Kanhal a workshop on “Private sector vision on the strategic plan of medical devices” was held during 3/11/1426 Hegira (5 December 2005) in four session’s hotel. The workshop was attended by the top executive manager of major medical devices companies in Saudi Arabia.
