اختتمت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء ممثلة بقطاع الدواء يوم الأربعاء الماضي فعاليات وُرش عمل تنظيم مستحضرات التجميل في المملكة والتي عُقدت في الغُرف التجارية في كل من الرياض وجدة و الدمام وبحضور كثير من المهتمين بهذا المجال يمثلون كل من القطاع الحكومي والخاص والمهنيين والمهتمين بهذا المجال.

طورت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء ممثلة في قطاع الدواء مسودة الهيكل الإجرائي لترخيص الأدوية ( Regulatory Framework for Drug Approvals )، وذلك استنادا لما ورد في نظام الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء الصادر بالأمر السامي الكريم رقم 1 وتاريخ 7/1/1424هـ والذي ينص على أن تتولى الهيئة تنظيم ومراقبة كل ما يتعلق بالدواء.

استمراراً للقاءات التشاوريه التي ينظمها قطاع الدواء مع ممثلي ووكلاء شركات الأدوية و المعنيين بالدواء فقد نظمت الهيئة العامة للغذاء والدواء ممثلة بقطاع الدواء لقاءاً تعريفياً بمتطلبات التقنية الموحدة لملفات تسجيل الأدوية ( Common Technical Document- CTD ) يوم الأحد 21 / 1/ 1430 هـ الموافق 18 /1/ 2009 م بمقر الهيئة.

U.S. health regulators are reviewing the effectiveness in some patients of the widely used blood thinner Plavix, made by Sanofi-Aventis SA and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.

The move comes after several studies found the blockbuster drug did not work as well in certain people possibly because patients metabolized it differently depending on their genetic makeup or their other medications, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Monday.

State officials gave final approval yesterday to regulations banning pharmaceutical and medical device companies from providing gifts to physicians, limiting when companies can pay for doctors' meals, and requiring companies to publicly disclose payments to doctors over $50 for certain types of consulting and speaking engagements.

A new indication for treatment-resistant depression in adults has been added to the olanzapine/fluoxetine combination pill (Symbyax), the drugmaker Eli Lilly announced.

The combination drug was the first approved by the FDA for bipolar disorder in 2003, and is now the first okayed for treatment-resistant depression.

FDA provided healthcare professionals with updated information on the original March 2008 early communication and January 2009 follow-up communication about the ongoing safety review for the leukotriene inhibitors, montelukast, zafirlukast and zileuton. Neuropsychiatric events have been reported in some patients taking montelukast (Singulair), zafirlukast (Accolate), and zileuton (Zyflo and Zyflo CR). FDA has requested that manufacturers include a precaution in the drug prescribing information (drug labeling).
